This is Part 02 of the XEON "Love" poster art.
I drew every aspect of the background on separate illustration boards so they can be individually scanned then "layered" in Photoshop. The reason for this was I want to have the colorist to "colorhold" the line work.
[ Note: Colorholding is a trick where penciled or inked lines are converted to color in Photoshop. It harks back to the old school graphic design and print production technique called "knock out" (or K.O.) where a portion of an image is removed. K.O. should not be confused with H.U. — which is short for "Hook Up" — a totally different kind of comic book production trick! ]
Below is my finished work...
I drew XEON facing the sun instead of looking down or interacting with Haze, the leading female character in the story. There is a bitter sweet love story behind the dynamics of their relationship. XEON suffers from retrograde memory loss — and he does not recall events prior to acquiring his bodycast armor and alien powers. Haze was his former fiancée and she is still in love with him even though he can't remember their past or feel the love that used to be centered and focused on what could have been a perfect future together!
XEON's instincts — and pehaps a glimmer of hope in his heart — knows that there is a strong bond and connection between them. Is he beginning to feel his true affection for her deep within his heart, or is he merely seeing her as a best friend? For now, he can't let her go from his thoughts... And she has promised to be by his side in this arduous moment that is the greatest challenges of his life. Every day, they strive to slowly piece together memories of what can never ever be again. They are total strangers locked in each other's loving embrace....
